Ipamorelin is an intriguing new discovery in muscle building that is gaining significant popularity in the bodybuilding community. Similar to the GHRP-6 peptide (growth hormone releasing hexapeptide), it is a synthetic peptide renowned for its strong Growth Hormone releasing capabilities. These GH releasing effects are particularly appealing to athletes and bodybuilders, as they can greatly enhance muscle growth and accelerate fat loss.
Athletes commonly administer Ipamorelin at a dosage of 200mcg to 300mcg, two to three times a day, using a small insulin syringe for injection. They typically begin with the lower dosage due to potential side effects, which may include headaches or sensations akin to a head rush. Ipamorelin can be taken at any point, but using it approximately 30-45 minutes prior to a workout seems optimal as it causes a surge in Growth Hormone (GH), facilitating maximal growth.
Research investigating the impact of Ipamorelin on bone growth, body weight, and GH release yielded some noteworthy findings.
In one study, a variety of doses were given over a span of 15 days to assess the group's responses.
There was a clear and dose-dependent effect on body weight gain; however, the treatment group did not exhibit any change in total IGF-I levels. Additionally, the treatment group did not produce serum markers indicative of bone growth. For instance, the quantity of cells in the broad section of the tibia (the shinbone) remained relatively unchanged. This is encouraging as it indicates muscle growth with a decreased likelihood of bone or cartilage deformities.
The pituitary's reaction to a vigorous intravenous dose of Ipamorelin revealed that plasma GH levels were significantly lower than before, while levels remained stable after a similar dose of GHRH. This is actually beneficial as it implies that Ipamorelin may not hinder the body’s natural GH production—further highlighting Ipamorelin's role as a selective GH releaser.
